Nausica of the valley of the wind – Manga version

Did you know that there is an original manga version of Hayao Miyazaki's "Nausica"? "Nausica of the Valley of the Wind" was the big hit anime movie released in 1984.
But before that, he had been writing and drawing the original comics regularly for Animage, the first anime magazine in Japan. I had known the reputation of the manga, that the story is more complex than the animated version. And finally, I got a chance to read it last week.

The ecosystem is much more complex and profound in the manga than in the movie. In the manga story, not only the area that became the Sea of the Decay but also human beings were artificially altered in the past. Nausica and the people in her age have chosen to fight off their destiny. The story is darker and does not just come to a happy end. The message that I took from the manga was that you can not foresee the future, so you have to stick to the present that you have now. Just seize the day.

An essential theme in Hayao Miyazaki's artwork is an appeal to us to live in the present.
